Don’t Expel Bullied Gay Teen!
Darnell “Dynasty” Young has been bullied for months — it has sometimes gotten so bad that he has thought about suicide.
His mother contacted the school but instead of taking appropriate action, asked Darnell to “tone down” his accessories. That is victim blaming.
Not knowing what to do, his mother sent him to school with a stun gun because he didn’t feel safe. On April 16, 6 students surrounded him threatening violence. He pulled out the stun gun and raised it in the air, setting off an electric charge. He did not use it on anyone — he simply scared them away, protecting himself.
Young was soon arrested and taken away in handcuffs. He is now facing expulsion from the school.
Please tell Arsenal Technical High School to not expel Young — who hurt no one and was just trying to protect himself — and to change their school’s bullying policy to offer more protection for LGBT youth. No one should feel unsafe at school!

This poem was written by a working class Chilean woman in 1973, shortly after Chile’s socialist president, Salvador Allende, was overthrown. A U.S. missionary translated the work and brought it with her when she was forced to leave Chile. This is to be read by two people, one reading the bold-faced type and one reading the regular type.I am a woman.
I am a woman.I am a woman born of a woman whose man owned a factory.
I am a woman born of a woman whose man labored in a factory.I am a woman whose man wore silk suits, who constantly watched his weight.
I am a woman whose man wore tattered clothing, whose heart was constantly strangled by hunger.I am a woman who watched two babies grow into beautiful children.
I am a woman who watched two babies die because there was no milk.I am a woman who watched twins grow into popular college students with summers abroad.
I am a woman who watched three children grow, but with bellies stretched from no food.But then there was a man;
But then there was a man;And he talked about the peasants getting richer by my family getting poorer.
And he told me of days that would be better and he made the days better. We had to eat rice.
We had rice.We had to eat beans!
We had beans. My children were no longer given summer visas to Europe.
My children no longer cried themselves to sleep. And I felt like a peasant.
And I felt like a woman.A peasant with a dull, hard, unexciting life.
Like a woman with a life that sometimes allowed a song. And I saw a man.
And I saw a man.And together we began to plot with the hope of the return to freedom.
I saw his heart begin to beat with hope of freedom, at last.Someday, the return to freedom.
Someday freedom.And then,
But then,One day,
One day,There were planes overhead and guns firing close by.
There were planes overhead and guns firing in the distance.I gathered my children and went home.
I gathered my children and ran.And the guns moved farther and farther away.
But the guns moved closer and closer. And then, they announced that freedom had been restored!
And then they came, young boys really. They came into my home along with my man.
They came and found my man. Those men whose money was almost gone.
They found all of the men whose lives were almost their own.And we all had drinks to celebrate.
And they shot them all.The most wonderful martinis.
They shot my man.And then they asked us to dance.
And they came for me.Me.
For me, the woman. And my sisters.
For my sisters. And then they took us.
Then they took us.They took us to dinner at a small private club.
They stripped from us the dignity we had gained. And they treated us to beef.
And then they raped us.It was one course after another.
One after another they came after us.We nearly burst we were so full.
Lunging, plunging—sisters bleeding, sisters dying. It was magnificent to be free again!
It was hardly a relief to have survived. The beans have almost disappeared now.
The beans have disappeared. The rice—I’ve replaced it with chicken or steak.
The rice, I cannot find it.And the parties continue night after night to make up for all the time wasted.
And my silent tears are joined once more by the midnight cries of my children. The period of rice and beans for the poor woman in the poem occurs after the election of the socialist, Salvador Allende, as president of Chile. Allende was elected in 1970. He was overthrown in a military coup in September 1973 after a long period of destabilization launched by the wealthy classes and supported by the US government and US corporations such as International Telephone and Telegraph. Along with thousands of others, Allende was killed by the military. The coup, under the leadership of Gen. Augusto Pinochet, launched a period of severe hardship for the working and peasant classes. Although Chile currently has a civilian government, the military is still the country’s most powerful institution.

Dutch Roman Catholic Church Castrated Boys As ‘Treatment’ For Homosexuality
Shocking reports have surfaced that reveal at least ten teenage boys were castrated in the 1950s by the Dutch Roman Catholic Church as a “treatment” for homosexuality, the Telegraph reports.
Dutch journalist Joep Dohmen, reporting for the NRC Handelsblad uncovered ten cases of the castrations, one of which was suffered by Henk Heithuis, who was castrated as a minor for reporting to police sexual abuse by a priest that he endured while in the boarding home.
Although the priests were convicted of the abuses, Heithuis was still transported to a Catholic hospital, and underwent a surgical castration as a treatment for homosexuality and, according to the report, a punishment for tattling on the clergy.
Radio Netherlands Worldwide reports that the new information wasn’t included in the large Deetman Commission report published three months ago on sexual abuses in the church — and furthermore — that the commission received a complaint about the castrations last year, but claimed there was a “lack of sufficient leads” to warrant an investigation.
The reports also uncovered minutes of official meetings held in the 1950s, which revealed directors of the Catholic institutions deciding parents did not need to be involved in decisions — even with minors, Dutch News reports. They also proved government officials were present in meetings where the castrations were discussed.
The Deetman Commission, led by Wim Deetman, was founded by the Catholic church in 2010 following widespread reports of sexual abuse in the church. In their report, the commission found the number of victims who grew up in church institutions to be between 10,000 and 20,000.
This is hormonal birth control.
As you can see on the box, you take exactly one pill per day. To make sure it works, you need to take one pill every day at the same time, or it stops working. You take only one pill, and you keep taking them regardless of what you are doing that day.
Hormonal birth control can be used to treat a lot of different diseases, like anemia caused by excessive menstruation. It is a prescription medication that can cost around $15-50 a month. Because it is a prescription medication, it should be covered by insurance, as it treats legitimate health problems.
This is Viagra.
It, too, can treat legitimate health problems like altitude sickness and pulmonary hypertension, but it is usually prescribed for erectile dysfunction. Unlike the Pill, Viagra is taken every time you want to have sex. A lot of health insurance companies cover Viagra, so it costs about as much as your co-pay.
This is a condom.
It is not a prescription medication, and has no health benefits (besides the prevention of STIs and pregnancy). Like Viagra, you must use one before you have sex: indeed, before each sex act. They cost about a dollar per condom.
This is Sandra Fluke.
She testified before a small, Democrat-led hearing after she was cut out of the actual birth control/insurance discussion. Her testimony was about a friend of hers who, because her insurance did not cover birth control, lost an ovary due to an ovarian cyst.
This somehow translates into “I, myself, personally, am having so much sex I can’t afford birth control, and so I want the government to pay for it.”
This is wrong for multiple reasons.
- It was about a friend, not her. To say her testimony was about her personally is factually incorrect.
- Sex had nothing to do with the testimony - her friend lost an ovary because of medical condition that was left untreated. A medical condition that was completely treatable, but wasn’t, because her insurance wouldn’t cover it. To say that her testimony was about her being “a slut” or “a prostitute” is factually incorrect.
- Even if she was having loads of sex, she would still only have one pill a day, not one pill per sex act, so to say “I’m having so much sex I can’t afford birth control” is completely erroneous. The Pill is not Viagra or condoms. To say that she is such “a slut” that she constantly needs more pills is factually incorrect.
- The current political debate is not “should the government pay for birth control?” The debate is “should insurance companies, that people and their employers pay for, on their own, be required to cover birth control?” To say that Sandra Fluke wants the government to pay for her birth control is factually incorrect.
- Religious organizations do not want to have birth control covered by their insurance, even for employees not of their faith, even if their employees never actually use their insurance to cover birth control. By this logic, they should also not pay their employees, because they could use that money to pay for birth control out of pocket. To say that this issue is about religious freedom and not about women’s health is disingenuous, as Ms. Fluke’s testimony demonstrates.
Hopefully this makes things a little clearer.
The people that try to run this country .. I tell ya.

Michelle Duggar, mother of 19, has this advice to give to us about what a husband needs and what a wife should do to meet those needs. I found this gem over at Jesus Needs New PR. I started to embolden some texts and add “emphasis mine,” but I realized that I’d made most of it bold. It’s all bad; every single internalized misogynistic word of it.
Oh and the photo is from this Radar online article where the Duggars endorse Santorum as “The Man of God To Lead The Nation.” You just can’t make this stuff up. ~ Kim
A Husband Needs A Wife Who Accepts Him As A Leader And Believes In His God-Given Responsibilities: Husbands are commanded to govern their wives; God works through a man’s decisions – good or bad; Bad decisions reveal his needs and allow the wife to appeal and demonstrate Godly character; The more a wife trusts her husband, the more careful he will be in giving her direction; Never ask others for counsel without your husband’s approval; reassure your husband that you understand and believe that he is your God-given leader.
A Husband Needs A Wife Who Will Continue To Develop Inward And Outward Beauty: How can you become more of the wife of your husband’s dreams?; discover and conform to your husband’s real wishes; explain your hairstyle to others on the basis of your submission to your authority; separate your ‘rights’ from your responsibilities.
Ask Your Husband To Define Your Responsibilities: Ask your husband to tell you when you have a resistant spirit; dispel a backbiting tongue by silence.
It’s impossible for me to hate Michelle Duggar more than I already do. I truly despise her and her husband.
And, I’m not shocked that these people would back Santorum. All of them want to retard our progress as people and as a country.
Are Republicans talking about jobs, climate change, the economy, health care, education…etc.?
Nope.
The Republicans are concerned about birth control.
Birth Control.
That’s the most pressing issue to the Republican Party in 2012.
Santorum Takes Climate Change Denial To A Biblical LevelClimate change denial has become a litmus test for modern Republicans, but Rick Santorum, in his fondness for melding faith and government, has become one of the precious few to cite the Bible as evidence that the science-accepting crowd has it all wrong — and apparently the first to bring that thinking to the presidential stage.
“We were put on this Earth as creatures of God to have dominion over the Earth, to use it wisely and steward it wisely, but for our benefit not for the Earth’s benefit,” Santorum told a Colorado crowd earlier this month.
He went on to call climate change “an absolute travesty of scientific research that was motivated by those who, in my opinion, saw this as an opportunity to create a panic and a crisis for government to be able to step in and even more greatly control your life.”
THE ENTIRE WORLD IS WATCHING THIS HAPPEN IN AMERICA! THE ENTIRE WORLD! Yes that was in all caps because I was yelling. I’m so embarrassed and I’m not the one saying this shit. But people will say, “Americans are stupid” not just Santorum and his ilk. I can’t not blog about politics because our politicians have turned into televangelists. Un-freaking-believable! ~ Kim
